Bunsik (Street Food) — Paris

Bunsik is the food of street stalls and standing counters: tteokbokki, gimbap, fritters, blood sausage, small portions ordered without much deliberation. In Korea it belongs to after-school hours, markets and the end of a night out. In Paris it tends to be what people want for a short lunch, a snack between things, or a first encounter with Korean food that does not require a two-hour commitment. The places listed here work in that register every day, and many are as good for takeaway as for eating in. The takeaway filter isolates the first group; the quick-lunch filter finds the rooms where you sit for ten minutes. Each listing names the signature dishes, which usually reveals whether a kitchen is really about tteokbokki or really about gimbap.
